Charlotte Marie Craig first came to the German Department as a graduate TA, teaching from 1962-1964.

  • Most recent publication: "The Pledge (Die Buergschaft): Schiller's Human Bail Bond Ballad," The Dalhousie Review 82.3 Special Issue: Eighteenth-Century Speculations (2002).
  • Craig's other publications include books and numerous articles and reviews;
  • She served as General Editor of the series The Enlightenment: German and Interdisciplinary Studies, Peter Lang Publishing (New York).
  • Her experience also includes service on the Board of Officers of the NE American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies.
       
  Research Interests:
   
  • Eighteenth-century German literature, specifically Rococo; Wieland and his circle.
  • The Enlightenment: G. Chr. Lichtenberg; Lessing; Nicolai.
  • German Classicism: Goethe; Schiller.
  • German Romanticism: A. W. Schlegel as translator of Shakespeare; Heine.
  • Realism: Wilhelm Busch.
