Anke Gilleir and Barbara Hahn
Margarete Susman – Thinking the 20th Century
The Department of Germanic, Russian, and East European Languages and Literatures is pleased to announce a lecture and conversation with Anke Gilleir (KU Leuven) and Barbara Hahn (Vanderbilt U) on Margarete Susman, a pioneering philosopher of modern Jewish thought and an eminent literary critic, one of the first commentators of the works of Rosenzweig, Buber, Landauer, and Kafka. Her long essay, The Book of Job and the Destiny of the Jewish People (1946) is one of the first responses to the Shoah.
The event is in person. A light lunch will be served. We look forward to seeing you there!
