Editor and Author Dr. Martin Mittelmeier will join the department in Fall 2019 as our Craig-Kade Scholar in Residence. He has worked for prestigious German publishing houses (Luchterhand Literaturverlag, Eichborn), where he was especially responsible for German literature. German students present research project at NeMLA

Two of our current German students, Han Yan and Shuyu Chen, successfully presented their Aresty Research Project "World Languages at Rutgers: a Multimedia Project" at the Undergraduate Research Symposium of the 50th Anniversary Convention of the North-East Modern Language Association Conference (NeMLA), Washington DC, under the direction of Dr. Alexander Pichugin. NeMLA is a prestigious regional conference, and we are all very proud of their hard work!

German Major wins Henry Rutgers Scholar Award!

Congratulations to Shelby McMullan, who has been awarded the Henry Rutgers Scholar Award for her thesis "Fantasies of Fear: Male Hysteria and Media Technology from E.T.A. Hoffman to David Lynch", advised by Professor Nicola Behrmann. The Henry Rutgers Scholar Award recognizes graduating seniors who have competed outstanding independent research projects leading to a thesis in their major field of study or an interdisciplinary thesis.

German Major among Mothers graduating on Mothers Day!

In 2017, University Commencement will be held on Mother's Day, and quite a few of the 2017 School and Arts of Sciences graduates are also mothers. German language and literature major Kendis Pacholec will complete her BA in 2017, after balancing single parenthood, working, and her studies.
