Alexandra Friedrich joined the department as a Craig Fellow in Fall 2018. 

Alexandra joined the department as a Craig Fellow in 2018. Her primary interests are German-Jewish history and German-Jewish writings. She works on Holocaust testimony and memory in literature, with particular focus on generational identity.

Prior to joining Rutgers, Alexandra studied Social- and Cultural Anthropology, Jewish Studies, and Latin American Studies at the Freie Universität in Berlin. After completing her BA, she moved to Mexico where she worked as an instructor for German and Russian at a language institute. She then decided to return to university and focus on German Studies and on teaching language.

Outside of academia, Alexandra spends a lot of time with family, loves Latin American music, drums, ballet, and good food.
